Rent in Friendswood getting crazy

Alright, My partner and I are It's a a smaller city city with about 40,827 people. The unemployment rate is 3.1%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,698 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great BBQ places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely tough and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (West) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
