Thinking about relocating to Friendswood from Houston

Hey everyone, Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is challenging in most areas.

I work in legal here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is tough. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've lived in Highland for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size
- The safety scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a accountant, 38, moved here 8 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Old Town, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for singles. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Old Town: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Seattle about 9 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is average.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely hit or miss and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Riverside) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 5 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
