Alright, I'm originally from Indianapolis and Rent is about $1,902/month for a decent place. It's a a mid-size city city with about 210K people. You can expect to pay around $1,902 for rent here. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I'm a nurse and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Lakewood) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
