Honest thoughts on life in Frontenac

Hey, My partner and I are The median home value here is around $165,400, which is actually reasonable. Poverty rate is 4.9%, which is pretty low. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely better than expected and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2019 and the quality of life is solid. Property values have gone about the same since then.

Used to live on the The Heights side, now on the North side. Completely different vibe. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a writer who relocated here from Atlanta about 12 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor recreation is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much manageable but now it's improving.
