Couple moving to Frontenac from out of state

Hey folks, Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. With a population of 3,669, Frontenac is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 32, moved here 1 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Fairview and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The community vibe situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for young professionals. tough vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'm a nurse and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is pretty good and there's always something going on.
