First post here. We're a young couple and Homes are going for about $451,600 on average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Am I overthinking this? The suburbs are where most families end up.

I work in engineering here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is better than expected. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a chef and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is surprisingly good and there's always something going on.

I've been living here for 7 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The pet-friendliness is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Raleigh about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if food scene matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much competitive but now it's underrated.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in The Heights for 15 years. Moved from Tampa for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are excellent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Bugs and humidity in summer. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 6/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.
