Relocating to Fruitland, ID -pros and cons?

Hi all, Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in East. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 4 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 6 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Miami about 10 years ago. The main reasons were family and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Happy to answer more specific questions..
