I'm a remote worker and Rent is about $1,882/month for a decent place. With a population of 15,828, Fruitville is a small town. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Thoughts?

The food scene here is average. Tons of great farm-to-table places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in South area are excellent. Kids love it here.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 34, moved here 15 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Old Town and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not a lot of cultural diversity
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for young professionals. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $100K-$120K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
