Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 44--F, so bundle up in winter. You can expect to pay around $869 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? The city has invested a lot in new development.

Came here for weather and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community vibe is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Springfield for 4 years. Moved from Portland for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is excellent. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is solid - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Springfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is job market. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The dating scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The housing market scene is solid
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Denver it's improving.
