Cost of living reality check — Fullerton

Hi all, I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $2,124 for rent here. Median household income is $104,219, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 4.3%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider — Fullerton sits at 266.1 per 100K. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value housing market, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
