Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm originally from Charlotte and Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Is this normal for Fullerton? Any help is appreciated. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 14 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Can feel isolated
Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want weather, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely improving and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
