Anyone else feel this way? I grew up here but left for a while. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've been here 2 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely challenging and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Westside) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if healthcare matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
