Alright, My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 4.8%, which is about average. Rent is about $787/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally solid. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Meadowbrook area are excellent. Kids love it here.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The housing market is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it exceeded my expectations. Internet is tough in most areas.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The school system is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Old Town for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Active local events and festivals
- The public transit scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for families. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
