Living in Gadsden -the reality

I've lived in South for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Austin, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries
- The healthcare scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

The food scene here is excellent. Tons of great Southern places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 4 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
