Pros and cons of Gadsden after 12 years

It's a a smaller city city with about 33,617 people. Homes are going for about $101,900 on average. Rent is about $787/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Gadsden sits at 982.0 per 100K. Household incomes average around $38,699 in Gadsden. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Easy commute
- Plenty of shopping options
- Active local events

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
Cheers. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The nightlife is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
