Things that make Gaffney unique

Random thought, I'm single, late 50s, and Average temperature is around 59--F, so the weather is moderate. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for Gaffney? The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 52, moved here 5 years ago from Atlanta. I've lived in North and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The traffic situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Atlanta, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Austin about 14 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is tough.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Seattle about 9 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are affordable, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I love the pace of life here. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
