Best hidden gems in Gainesville

Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $56,341 in Gainesville. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Salt Lake City, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure
- The weather scene is tough

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Feel free to reach out with questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in South area are decent. Kids love it here.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.
