Honest thoughts on life in Galion

Longtime lurker here, I'm a college student here and Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. Median household income is $45,377, which feels on the lower side for the area. With a population of 10,358, Galion is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Galion sits at 186.0 per 100K. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Growing food scene
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Poor road conditions
What are your go-to spots? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.
