Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value weather, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone about the same since then.

If you value job market, you'll love it. The pet-friendliness is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Westside) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Austin, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Springfield area are solid. Kids love it here.
