Best and worst neighborhoods in Gallitzin

OK so The city has invested a lot in new development. Am I overthinking this? Any help is appreciated.

I've lived in Old Town for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- The dating scene scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a real estate agent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Bought a house here in 2020 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 58, moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Old Town and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The job market situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for retirees. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in The Heights. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in construction. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is surprisingly good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Public transit is underrated here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I have mixed feelings honestly.
