Grocery stores in Gallup -recommendations?

Hi all, I'm a 35-year-old restaurant manager and Rent is about $858/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $134,600 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Gallup sits at 1,992.3 per 100K. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What would you do? TIA! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I'm a social worker and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Denver about 6 years ago. The main reasons were school and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are competitive, gas is better than expected.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The community vibe is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
