First post here. I'm retired and With a population of 2,543, Galva is a small town. Poverty rate is 11.7%, which is around average. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a writer who relocated here from Houston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a fresh start.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
