The good and bad of living in Garden City

Hey everyone, Household incomes average around $66,859 in Garden City. It's a a small town city with about 12,483 people. Median household income is $66,859, which feels about average for the area. Homes are going for about $411,400 on average. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Came here for family and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The school system is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Used to live on the Highland side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The traffic is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in hospitality here and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market for my field is pretty good. Definitely worth checking out..

As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. traffic used to be much reasonable but now it's solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 5 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 13 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The food scene is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.
