Is it worth buying in Garden City?

Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. The median home value here is around $162,400, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $991/month for a decent place. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

I'm a software engineer and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in East area are average. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Houston it's decent.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is pretty good in most areas.
