First post here. Median household income is $135,208, which feels pretty solid for the area. Homes are going for about $796,600 on average. Rent is about $2,546/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. What are your go-to spots? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Moved here from Portland about 10 years ago. it's exactly what I was looking for. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.
