Hey folks, My family moved here when I was a kid. Rent is about $1,971/month for a decent place. Poverty rate is 9.4%, which is pretty low. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Worth the trade-offs? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Seattle about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Active local events and festivals
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..
