Garden Grove is underrated, change my mind

I'm retired and It's a a mid-size city city with about 171K people. The median home value here is around $765,500, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $90,166, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is cost of living. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely hit or miss and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Westside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
