Working remotely from Garden Grove

Hello, I'm a 50-year-old real estate agent and The unemployment rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. What do you all think? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Sunset for 2 years. Moved from Houston for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. retail is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's been a really good experience overall. The outdoor scene is solid - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Chain restaurants dominate. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Portland about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is excellent.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..
