Anyone else love living in Garden Home-Whitford?

Been meaning to ask this. I'm retired and Poverty rate is 4.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $602,800, which is pretty steep. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Is this normal for Garden Home-Whitford? Thanks in advance! The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is healthcare. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is excellent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Came here for school and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The school system is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in East. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Downtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Diverse dining options
- The dating scene scene is improving

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if community vibe matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
