Random thought, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $667,600 on average. Crime rate is something to consider -Gardena sits at 541.5 per 100K. Rent is about $1,761/month for a decent place. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for work and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The traffic is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in West for 12 years. Moved from Pittsburgh for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is surprisingly good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I genuinely enjoy living here. The outdoor scene is solid - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are pretty good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Chain restaurants dominate. Limited entertainment options. And cost of living can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 8/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I'm a pharmacist and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 14 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Highland area are decent. Kids love it here.
