Curious what people think. I grew up here but left for a while. Crime rate is something to consider -Gardena sits at 541.5 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Would love some local perspective. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Seattle it's surprisingly good.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Minneapolis it's challenging.

I've lived in North for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Good airport with direct flights
- The cost of living scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

People: Generally improving. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
