Cost of living reality check -Gardiner

Been meaning to ask this. It's a a small town city with about 6,047 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What do you all think? Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Used to live on the South side, now on the Greenfield side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Dallas it's decent.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 48, moved here 6 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Westside and Springfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Property taxes are high
3. The traffic situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for young professionals. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Springfield: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is established. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
