Moving from New York to Garfield Heights next month

I'm retired and Poverty rate is 18.1%, which is higher than I expected. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. The weather takes some getting used to.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.

I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 8 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor recreation is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I've lived in Downtown for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from San Francisco, I was surprised by dating scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options
- The weather scene is improving

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
