What I wish I knew before living in Garfield Heights

Hi all, Just moved here 18 months ago and The median home value here is around $100,000, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Garfield Heights sits at 382.0 per 100K. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are stable, gas is decent.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
