I'm a accountant who relocated here from Miami about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Active local events and festivals
- Close to major attractions
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. No regrets on my end..

- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is better than expected.
Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Pine Hills. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.
