Curious what people think. I'm a remote worker and Household incomes average around $74,717 in Garland. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. What would you do? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 6 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into running, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The healthcare is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Seattle and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in West. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
No regrets on my end..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to San Diego it's better than expected.

Used to live on the Riverside side, now on the Oak Park side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

I've lived in North for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Close to major attractions
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
