Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Atlanta it's underrated.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a sales manager, 54, moved here 7 years ago from Boston. I've lived in South and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Friendly community, easy to meet people
3. Lots of new development happening
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Property taxes are high
3. The dating scene situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for singles. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Came here for work and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The housing market is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Bought a house here in 2019 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in North for 14 years. Moved from Portland for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
manufacturing is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Homeless population growing downtown. Bugs and humidity in summer. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
