Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $2,019/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 12 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
