Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and You can expect to pay around $2,019 for rent here. Poverty rate is 7.1%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What would you do? Thanks for reading. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The job market is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Charlotte about 15 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.
Socially, the quality of life is solid. No regrets on my end..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Riverside for 8 years. Moved from Minneapolis for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are surprisingly good. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 7/10. Happy to answer more specific questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 6 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Boston about 3 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Property taxes are high
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
