Gary quality of life -am I missing something?

Hey everyone, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Gary sits at 554.3 per 100K. With a population of 68,604, Gary is a smaller city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What do you all think? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Chicago it's decent.
