Hello, I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $60,554 in Gastonia. You can expect to pay around $1,145 for rent here. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Any advice would be great. Thanks for reading. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Lots of new development happening
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Limited high-paying job options
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are decent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

I've been living here for 15 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The food scene is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to Dallas it's better than expected.
