Considering Gateway vs Kansas City -help me decide

Been meaning to ask this. I relocated for work and Median household income is $103,161, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 75--F, so it's warm year-round. Crime rate is something to consider -Gateway sits at 1,103.0 per 100K. Poverty rate is 4.1%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Eastside) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. cost of living is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
