Hi all, My partner and I are Crime rate is something to consider -Gautier sits at 285.5 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 19,026 people. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in The Heights. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in tech. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
