Moving to Genoa with kids -good idea?

Curious what people think. I'm a 33-year-old mechanic and Average temperature is around 48--F, so expect cold winters. You can expect to pay around $1,004 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What are your go-to spots? Thanks for reading.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Denver and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in real estate. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
