Best and worst neighborhoods in George Mason

So, I work in marketing and Homes are going for about $687,800 on average. Median household income is $154,479, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Is this normal for George Mason? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Houston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Boston about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and it exceeded my expectations. Schools in Lakewood area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone about the same since then.
