Couple moving to Georgetown from out of state

Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Household incomes average around $90,381 in Georgetown. Homes are going for about $366,600 on average. Rent is about $966/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Thoughts? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Uptown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2020 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
