Anyone regret moving to Georgetown?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but Been living here since 2013. Poverty rate is 5.7%, which is pretty low. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's been a really good experience overall. Definitely worth checking out..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Minneapolis about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited shopping options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are affordable, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
