Freelancing from Georgetown -experience?

I work in government and Crime rate is something to consider -Georgetown sits at 116.8 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,206 people. Poverty rate is 9.7%, which is pretty low. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What do you all think? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

I'm a teacher and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely improving and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
