Remote worker thinking about Georgetown

Hey everyone, Military spouse here. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,206 people. Median household income is $78,373, which feels about average for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Georgetown sits at 116.8 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Let me know your thoughts. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The city has invested a lot in new development.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is hit or miss in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in finance. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to New York it's challenging.
