Anyone else feel this way? The weather takes some getting used to. Anyone in a similar situation? TIA!

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The walkability scene is decent
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in tech. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.
People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and I genuinely enjoy living here. Schools in Springfield area are better than expected. Kids love it here.

Came here for work and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The school system is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is excellent in most areas.

I've been living here for 2 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a accountant, 54, moved here 13 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in Meadowbrook and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The healthcare situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Meadowbrook: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
